The University of Michigan prides itself on the many libraries, museums, and other venues that bring world-class art and culture to the region. The University's wide range of cultural offerings is exemplified by large organizations like the Museum of Art (which mounts many nationally acclaimed exhibitions and has a diverse permanent collection) and the University Musical Society (one of the most influential arts presenters in the nation), and by smaller groups such as the Basement Arts Program.

Corporations and foundations have played a large part in sponsoring many of these offerings on campus. Supporting the arts at U-M is good business. Many organizations support the arts to attract top talent to the area and to reach key customers. The recent residency of the Royal Shakespeare Company, sponsored in part by the Power Foundation, Pfizer and Northwest Airlines, DTE's sponsorship of dance performances, and The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation's funding of jazz programming for The University Musical Society are just a few examples of how corporations and foundations can play a part in bringing cultural attractions to the University community.

We can help you identify optimal ways to become partners in sponsoring cultural programming.
